SURE vouchers now available to support linked data research

Researchers undertaking linked data projects can now apply for vouchers of up to $10,000 to help offset the cost of accessing the Sax Institute’s Secure Unified Research Environment (SURE).

The SURE Voucher Program is being offered by Data Connect Australia in partnership with the Sax Institute, helping researchers access secure infrastructure to work with sensitive linked data.

A total of $100,000 in voucher funding will be available across four application rounds over 12 months, from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. Applicants are required to provide a minimum of 50% matched co-funding.

The competitive program is intended to encourage and primarily support early- and mid-career researchers, as well as research teams with limited funding.

Supporting secure linked data research

SURE is the Sax Institute’s trusted platform for linking and analysing sensitive health and social datasets, such as hospital records. SURE works closely with more than 60 data custodian partners and hundreds of research partners, helping to enable high-quality research while protecting privacy and maintaining trust.

As part of the Sax Institute’s secure and reliable data infrastructure, SURE supports research partners to generate evidence using sensitive linked data.

To be eligible for a voucher, researchers must be conducting a linked data project using Data Connect Australia infrastructure, including SURE and at least one Data Connect Australia Data Linkage Unit.

Applications will be considered quarterly, with the first round open from 1 October to 31 December 2026. Further rounds will run through to September 2027.

Learn more about SURE and the Voucher Program

Researchers interested in learning more can join the Sax Institute and Data Connect Australia for an online information session on Wednesday 21 October, 12.00–1.00pm AEDT.
