This Evidence Check review examined the effectiveness of workplace screening programs for chronic disease prevention. It found strong evidence of effectiveness of health risk assessments (when used in combination with other interventions) in relation to tobacco use, alcohol use, dietary fat intake, blood pressure and cholesterol. It found evidence of effectiveness for work-site programs to control overweight and obesity, for financial incentives, and for an average annual gain of $3.20 per dollar invested.
