Opportunities for collaboration

Sax Forum

The Sax Institute and its Members are committed to increasing the use of evidence in health policy, services and programs and to fostering a strong and vital public health and health service research sector.

The Sax Forum is a collegial endeavour that seeks to help the Sax Institute and its Members connect, share expertise and develop further collaborative opportunities.

2024 Calendar

Our Sax Forum program in 2024 brings our Sax members together to listen to and learn from some of the most inspiring researchers and academics.

A ongoing Sax Institute interview series with researchers whose work has significantly influenced policy in their area of expertise.

Panel members: Professor Julian Elliot, Professor Trish Greenhalgh, Professor Bronwyn Hemsley

Professor Julian Elliot is from the Cochrane Australia, School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine. Julian is one of the worlds leading researchers in the use of technology for evidence synthesis.

Professor Trish Greenhalgh is an internationally recognised academic in primary health care and trained as a GP. Professor Greenhalgh is Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences at Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. She has previously held professorships at University College London and Queen Mary University of London.

Professor Bronwyn Hemsley is Head of Speech Pathology at UTS and co-lead of the UTS Disability Research Network. She is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, Fellow of Speech Pathology Australia, and Fellow of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. 

The Sax Colloquium is an annual gathering of Members to discuss developments at the Institute and priorities for the year ahead. 

Dr Martin McNamara CEO, Sax Institute and Professor Ian Olver, Board Chair will host a member only session to review 2024 and explore some of the emerging issues and themes of most interest to our members in the year ahead.

The Sax Institute Research Action Awards will be held at NSW Parliament House on 04 December. These awards honour individuals whose research has made a significant impact on health policy, programs, or service delivery.

This will be the 10th year of the Research Action Awards and we will celebrate a decade of excellence in research and the look back on the impact of our past award winners on public health research and practice.

Two awards will be granted with each winner receiving a prize of $5,000.
