New members join the Sax Institute

The Sax Institute has welcomed two new Members to its national network: the Sunshine Coast Health Institute in Queensland, and the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University, Victoria.

There are now 76 Member organisations of the Institute, located across New South Wales, Victoria, ACT, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

The Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) is a collaborative partnership between Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, University of Sunshine Coast, TAFE Queensland and Griffith University. SCHI is focused on delivering education and training for a skilled health workforce, while fostering innovation and driving clinical and health-related research that supports excellence in the delivery of care. SCHIโ€™s approach integrates translational research, health implementation science and health workforce development. Professor Alison Jones is Executive Director of SCHI and its member representative.

The Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University is a leading multi-disciplinary research centre that investigates the influence food has on our brain, mood, and mental health. Its team of world-class researchers studies the food-mood relationship from microbiology to public health. The Food & Mood Centreโ€™s research initiatives aim to identify nutrition-based approaches to preventing and treating mental disorders that may improve brain and mental health both in Australia and globally. Professor Felice Jacka OAM is the founder and director of the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University and its member representative.
