This study seeks to investigate the modifiable risk factors for age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts treated surgically. Due to a lack of clarity regarding the association between physical activity and eye disease, the study will focus on the investigation of this association in particular. Specific study objectives include 1) Investigation of the environmental and socioeconomic influences on major ophthalmic procedures using a temporal-spatial analysis 2) Investigation of the association of physical activity and significant eye disease and 3) Prediction of individual risk of significant eye disease treated surgically using a risk prediction model built from objectives 1 and 2.
