This review examines programs that have been effective at increasing adoption of sun protection behaviours with a focus on priority populations: children aged under 12, adolescents or young people aged 13-24, and men aged 40 years and over. The review identified a several programs delivered in a range of settings and using a variety of modalities. The evidence suggests that sustained interventions incorporating multiple components such as mass media, education, policy, provision of sun protection equipment and public and/or individual behavioural reminders in settings where ultraviolet exposure is prevalent, are likely to be effective in influencing sun protection behaviours.
