UK evaluation expert to lead upcoming HARC Forum

Professor Nicholas Mays

Professor Nicholas Mays, a leading thinker in the health policy research and analysis field, is set to share his expertise with the HARC network at a forum that will focus on evaluating integrated care strategies.

Professor Mays is the Director of the Policy Innovation Research Unit at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Co-Editor of the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy.

He has held senior roles in both government departments and academia, and has extensive experience in evaluating government policies and programs including directing the Department of Health-funded Policy Innovation Research Unit (PIRU).

PIRU undertakes a mix of primary evaluation studies of new policies and policy pilots in the English NHS and provides advice on the development and evaluation of pilots and demonstration programs.

The HARC Forum, to be held on 16 September, will be chaired by Mr Chris Shipway of the Agency for Clinical Innovation and will include a panel discussion with speakers including Dr George Argyrous, Senior Lecturer in Evidence-based Policy Making from the University of New South Wales and Bureau of Health Information CEO Dr Jean-Frederic Levesque, who will discuss initiatives and challenges in evaluating integrated care programs from a local perspective.

The event is free, but registration is essential.
