This Evidence Check was commissioned to support SafeWork NSW in developing a framework to manage the health and wellbeing and workers. The author reviewed Australian and international evidence related to four specific areas: 1) Effectiveness – programs, frameworks or models which have shown to be effective in maintaining and/or improving workers’ health and wellbeing, 2) Essential components – key components for effectiveness, 3) Implementation success factors – main barriers and facilitators to successful implementation, and 4) The role and impact of organisational factors, leadership, systems, policies, workplace culture, and work design. The report summarises the main implications and options for NSW with consideration of existing policy and infrastructure.
