This Evidence Check examines the effectiveness of school-based programs targeting the prevention of, or early intervention in, mental health problems in children and adolescents. It recommends: single-element prevention programs for all students; systematic identification of ‘at-risk’ students; better access to mental health services; and forging stronger linkages between schools and health services.
