The Australian Early Development Instrument (AEDI), a measure of early child development in relation to school readiness, has been adopted as a performance indicator for the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009-2012. This Evidence Check review found that to maximise the potential the AEDI has to improve child health and wellbeing it now needs to be incorporated into decision making for each state government.
