The 45 and Up Study’s 12th Annual Collaborators’ Meeting: Opportunities and challenges in a big data environment was held on 12 November 2015. Professor Karen Canfell, Director of Research at Cancer Council NSW, gave the keynote address on big data’s potential for predictive modelling in health.

Plenary presentations were given on population-based data linkage, patients’ experiences of adverse events, visualisation of linked health data, community pathology, and genome sequencing.

There were also parallel sessions across mental health; methods; risk factors; communicable diseases; cancer; health services; cardiovascular disease, diabetes and chronic disease; and other health issues.

The annual meeting is an opportunity to hear about research using the 45 and Up Study, network with other Study stakeholders, learn about new innovations in data collection and use, and meet the Study partners.
